A district is like a Buddhist Sangha where a small number of participants, perhaps 20 or more, meet in an informal setting to engage in Buddhist study and have an open dialogue. District members usually meet for both a discussion meeting and a study meetings at members homes each month, and at the Austin Buddhist Center for larger events. These meetings offer perspectives on applying Nichiren Buddhism to overcome sufferings that naturally occur in everyday modern-day life.

We practice for our selves and for others, realizing that our happiness does not exist apart from the happiness of others.

All SGI members and guests are welcome at SGI meetings and other events. Come and chant “Nam-myoho-renge-kyo” with us, discuss this wonderful philosophy, and meet other like-minded people. Be encouraged, be inspired, become refreshed, renew yourself, realize your dreams. Together we will accomplish world peace through spreading individual happiness.

Currently, district meetings are held in the Austin metroplex (several locations), Killeen (several locations), Waco, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Bastrop, College Station, Buda and places in between. For more information about these meetings, please refer to the Contact information below.
